Writing through life's mess 'til the clouds crack and the light leaks in.
Unmask the Magic
Where the magic's brewing
I love stories.
I always have.
I write stories that blur the line between truth and myth - magical realism set in modern-day Glasgow, nonfiction about survival, softening, and finding the grit to begin again, and beautiful wedding ceremonies that bear witness to the love between two people.
My fiction leans into folklore, feminine power, grief, and resistance.
Rivers watch. Gods wait. And mortals must rise when the city is in danger of losing its soul.
My nonfiction is what happens when a neurodivergent woman, seasoned by diagnosis, comedy, loss, and love, decides to tell the truth with her sleeves rolled up and her sense of humour intact.
Tree Bird Fish Bell is the first book in my Glasgow trilogy and is currently out on submission. The other two are already deep in the works.
Don’t Take My Advice is a self-help memoir for people who hate self-help - originally written before the most recent tsunami of life, now being revised for release.
And yes, I’d be honoured to conduct your wedding ceremony.
I’m based in Adelaide, South Australia, and if you want something Celtic-leaning, mystical, meaningful, and a little magical (or just beautifully traditional), I’m your celebrant.
Our lives become stories. And sometimes, the stories become our lives.
However they arrive - through novels, rituals, or real talk - I cherish them all.
These are the stories I need.
You might need them too.
Readers' thoughts
Maggie! You have written the most wonderful love letter to Glasgow. It just shines on every page - even the grotty bits!

TREE BIRD FISH BELL
I was enthralled from start to finish. With beautiful prose, I could feel the passion pouring out of the page. I would most definitely recommend this to a friend.

TREE BIRD FISH BELL
Don’t Take My Advice is the title, but you’d be wrong to heed that. With funny stories and brutal honesty, her style is relaxed and easy to read, her focus on acknowledging the now and building a positive future. With that in mind, take her advice.
